Meet our Physical Therapists

Dr. Cordell Pickering

Dr. Cordell Pickering was born and raised in the great state of Idaho, more specifically Idaho Falls. After graduating from High School, where he played football, baseball, and wrestled, he attended Utah State University for his undergraduate degree in Human Movement Science. Dr. Pickering completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) at A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ. Since high school, Cordell knew that he wanted to be a physical therapist and business owner. Pick PT is the realization of that desire.

Dr. Pickering has special interests in orthopedics, spine, sports, and vestibular rehab. During the last year of his doctorate, Dr. Pickering had clinical rotations at the following locations: Spine Rehab clinic in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Vestibular and Balance center in Idaho Falls, ID, and Acute Neuro Rehab/ ICU Neuro Rehab at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. Dr. Pickering also spends time helping to manage some of his family’s portable storage and towing businesses in Idaho Falls.  When Cordell is not in the clinic treating patients or assisting in family business matters, he loves spending time with his wife and three kids, soon to be four.  As a weekend warrior, Cordell likes to camp, fish, hike, play sports of every kind, and other outdoor recreational activities. He is excited to be a part of the Rexburg community and to help those around him.

Nathan Hunsaker

Nate was raised in western Wyoming. He has four children, two boys and two girls, with his wonderful wife Audra, and two grandsons that are way more fun than his children ever were. Nate finished his undergraduate degree at Utah State University in 1995 and completed his Master of Science in Physical Therapy (MSPT) at the University of the Pacific in 1997. He went on to complete his transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2014 from the Evidence in Motion Institute of Health Professions.

Nate has been with Pick PT since 2018 in a consultation role but has recently joined the Rexburg clinic as a full-time clinician. Nate earned his certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in June of 2010, his certification as a Spinal Manual Therapist from the International Spine & Pain Institute in 2012, and a certification in dry needling in 2018. He is currently working towards certifications in vestibular rehabilitation as well as therapeutic neuroscience education and rehabilitation.

Nate’s previous work experience includes 15 years at RehabAuthority physical therapy in Idaho Falls where he worked with patients with various orthopedic injuries. He began his work as a physical therapist back in 1997 on the acute rehabilitation unit at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls where he worked for 9 years. Nate has always been exceptionally interested in geriatric orthopaedics, spine rehabilitation of acute, chronic and post-op varieties, as well as stroke and spinal cord rehabilitation.

Nate is very excited to continue combining his advanced orthopedic skills with Pick PT’s scientifically proven methods in the treatment of orthopedic injuries to help patients “live life moving.” When Nate is not in the clinic treating patients, he is likely to be hiking. He has “bagged” all of the nine 12,000+ foot peaks in Idaho and most of the Tetons. He is also an avid cyclist and the #1 grandpa in the world according to his grandsons.

Cris A. Walters

Cris graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1994 with a Master of Physical Therapy degree.  She also received a bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in Chemistry and Physical Science from NAU.   She has many years of experience in orthopedics and spine care, total joint rehabilitation, gait analysis, geriatric rehabilitation, and manual therapy.

Cris has a special interest in manual therapy techniques, regenerative medicine, and human performance in sports.  She believes that a positive attitude and caring atmosphere can assist patients in recovery and living life to the fullest.

As a native of Rexburg, Cris loves living in this area.  Prior to returning to southeast Idaho, she worked in a busy outpatient clinic in Utah that was heavily based in spine care and manual therapy using a mechanical diagnostic approach.   From a young age she was fascinated by human movement and the art of caring for others.  She has been privileged to participate in humanitarian efforts in west Africa to help teach healthcare workers some skills to rehabilitate those in their native communities.

Cris is the married mother of three children who are the loves of her life.  She has many personal hobbies including, ultra-marathon running, reading, mountain biking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing or anything else that takes place outdoors.
